Man City favourites going into Manchester derby

By on 6th April 2018

Manchester City have been made the odds-on favourites heading into Saturday’s Manchester derby where they can be crowned the 2017-18 Premier League champions.

Victory for Pep Guardiola’s side would see them become champions in record time, with six games to spare, whilst Manchester United will be hoping to at least delay this for a further week.

You can find football odds of around 1.80 on Manchester City to secure the three points they need on Saturday to be crowned champions.

However, this seems short value given they head into the weekend’s derby off of a humiliating 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield on Wednesday.

Not only does this give Guardiola’s side a short turn around period in order to both get his players up for it mentality and physically, but the second leg is on Tuesday.

It would come as no surprise to see stars such as David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho and maybe even Kevin De Bruyne all rested for the visit of Manchester United.

However, Sergio Aguero could be available to Guardiola, and if so, we’d expect City’s all-time top scorer involved in the game at some point in order to build up his match fitness for the Champions League game against Liverpool on Tuesday.

Manchester United will have had a full week to prepare for this game and Jose Mourinho’s side haven’t picked up any injuries since their last game, so the Red Devils boss will already have a good idea in his mind who will be starting on Saturday.

Don’t be surprised if Mourinho upsets the odds once again and gets a result at the Etihad!
