By on 11th April 2019

Marcos Alonso scored a late winner for Chelsea as they came away from Slavia Prague with a 1-0 advantage at the end of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.

It was a fairly even game between the hosts from the Czech Republic and the Premier League giants with Chelsea actually creating fewer chances – two shots on target to Slavia’s three. The Blues scored the only goal of the game through their left-back on 85 minutes.

Many of the starters in Prague will be expected to remain in Maurizio Sarri’s XI on Sunday when they travel to Liverpool in the Premier League. Eden Hazard was the only star rested in the Europa League, with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho and Willian all playing the full 90 minutes.

The second leg will be played at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 18 April.
