Highlights: PSV 2-1 De Graafschap

By on 15th April 2019

PSV Eindhoven came from behind to beat De Graafschap 2-1 at the Philips Stadion on Sunday afternoon to keep them level on points with Ajax.

Mark van Bommel’s side remain behind the league leaders on goal difference, which has significantly improved in the Amsterdam’s side’s favour following their 6-2 thrashing of Excelsior on Saturday.

De Graafschap took a surprise lead through Delano Burgzorg in Eindhoven on Sunday and held on for a 1-0 half-time lead.

However, goals from Steven Bergwijn (65′) and Luuk de Jong (73′) saw the hosts narrowly pick up the crucial three points in the title race.

Earlier this month PSV had a five point lead over their rivals but have seen it evaporate following a 3-1 defeat at 10-man Ajax at the start of the month and then a 3-3 draw at Vitesse last weekend.

Ajax will be back in Champions League action on Tuesday night when they travel to Italy to take on Serie A champions Ajax in the second leg of their quarter-final tie, before returning to domestic action to face Groningen at the Noordlease Stadion on Saturday. PSV are next in action the following day, at home to ADO Den Haag.
