Highlights: FC Porto 1-4 Liverpool

By on 17th April 2019

Liverpool safely progressed to this season’s Champions League semi-finals with a comfortable 4-1 win at FC Porto on Wednesday night, giving them a 6-1 aggregate scoreline.

Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the first half in Portugal after the Premier League side had brought a 2-0 lead with them from Anfield just over a week ago.

Mohamed Salah doubled their lead midway through the second half before Real Madrid-bound defender Eder Militao reduced the scoreline minutes later.

Goals in the final 15 minutes from Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk made for a deserved, emphatic scoreline that sets up a clash with Barcelona for a place in this season’s final. Firmino had been introduced in the second half as a substitute as Divock Origi had started the game in an otherwise strong lineup named by Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds return to domestic action on Sunday when they travel to struggling Cardiff City in the Premier League.
