Highlights: Willem II 0-4 Ajax

By on 5th May 2019

Ajax won their first silverware of the season on Saturday as they ran out emphatic 4-0 winners against Willem II at De Kuip in the Dutch Cup final.

It wasn’t until the 38th minute that the Dutch giants made the breakthrough when Daley Blind headed them in front from a well-worked corner. Ajax doubled their lead almost instantly following a nice passing move and finish from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Willem II never looked like threatening Andre Onana’s goal and the tie was done before half-time. The Amsterdam club added goals through Huntelaar (67′) and Rasmus Nissen (76′) in the second half to extend their lead as record Dutch Cup winners with 19 successes.

Erik ten Hag’s treble-chasing side are top of the Eredivisie on goal difference with two games to play, and have a 1-0 lead in their Champions League semi-final against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur heading into their second leg at the Amsterdam Arena this Wednesday.
