Wolverhampton Wanderers saw a goal ruled out via VAR as the West Midlands club started the 2019-20 Premier League season with a goalless draw away to Leicester City.

Leander Dendoncker’s goalbound effort had hit the arm of teammate Willy Boly before Dendoncker shot past Kasper Schmeichel from eight yards out. Wolves players and fans celebrated before the goal went to the video assistant referee. One minute and 38 seconds later and referee Andre Marriner ruled to goal out.

Wolves, who were in UEFA Europa League qualifying action in Armenia on Thursday night, were the better of the two sides in a quiet affair at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts produced just one shot on target all game as they started life without Harry Maguire with a clean sheet.

Nuno’s Wolves host Manchester United next Monday whilst Leicester travel to Chelsea the day before.
