Highlights: Tottenham 3-1 Aston Villa

By on 10th August 2019

Tottenham Hotspur scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to come from behind to start the 2019-20 Premier League season with a victory.

Last season’s EFL Championship winners got off to an excellent start when a slip from Danny Rose gifted a great opportunity to John McGinn to fire Aston Villa into a ninth minute lead.

Dean Smith’s side had an opportunity to double their lead in the first half but went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The introduction of Christian Eriksen just after the hour saw Tottenham increase the intensity before they finally equalised. Big summer signing¬†Tanguy Ndombele blasted home the equaliser from outside the box before Harry Kane’s fine left-footed finish five minutes from time put Spurs on their way to victory.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side confirmed those three points when Kane grabbed his second in stoppage time. The 2018-19 Champions League runners-up travel to Premier League champions Manchester City next Saturday.
