Highlights: Derby 1-0 Hull

By on 19th January 2020

Derby County’s good form on the pitch continued on Saturday as they beat Hull City 1-0 at Pride Park in the Championship.

The Rams had been in the news this week for breaching EFL financial rules and face a potential 9-12 point deduction which would currently put them among the relegation contenders.

Matthew Clarke eased some fears of point deduction and relegation for fans when he out jumped George Long in the Hull City goal midway through the second half to head home Tom Lawrence’s floated Corner.

The visitors, who started the weekend narrowly ouside the playoff places, missed sitters through Jarrod Bowen and Josh Magennis at 0-0.

Derby County somehow managed to keep a clean sheet despite Andre Wisdom filling in at centre-back in the absence of Curtis Davies. Phillip Cocu’s side have now taken 10 points from a possible 12 to pull away from the bottom three.
