Highlights: Leicester 0-1 Man City

Manchester City may have extended Liverpool’s title crowning for a further week with a 1-0 victory away to Leicester City on Saturday evening.

Jamie Vardy missed the first opening of the game when his one-on-one strike hit the foot of the post and bounced back out to safety for the visitors.

Leicester were denied a penalty in the first half when James Maddison’s direct free kick clearly struck the outstretched arms of Kevin De Bruyne. The effort wasn’t even reviewed by VAR. Later in the half Maddison had a free kick saved by Ederson.

Kasper Schmeichel made a fine save to deny Kevin De Bruyne’s effort heading towards the bottom corner early in the second half. The Dane then saved Sergio Aguero’s penalty, awarded by VAR, after Ilkay Gundogan’s effort struck the arm of Dennis Praet. This was Schmeichel’s fourth career penalty save in the Premier League – one more than his father Peter pulled off.

Gabriel Jesus scored the game’s only goal 10 minutes from time by beating the Leicester goalkeeper from close range at his near post following a fine through ball from Riyad Mahrez.

Liverpool have a 19-point lead ahead of their game at home to West Ham United on Monday night.
