Highlights: Liverpool 3-2 West Ham United

Liverpool scored twice in the final 25 minutes to come from behind and beat West Ham United 3-2 in an entertaining game at Liverpool on Monday night.

Victory means that Jurgen Klopp’s side have now taken 79 points from a possible 81 and could win the Premier League title as early as Saturday 14 March or even Monday 16 March at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds appeared to be on their way to victory when Georginio Wijnaldum produced an excellent headed goal from an excellent first time cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold on the byline in the ninth minute.

However, West Ham had other ideas only three minutes later when Issa Diop produced a fine header of his own to equalise from a corner.

Liverpool have dropped just two points from 27 Premier League games this season but fans may have been nervous 10 minutes into the second half when Pablo Fornals scuffed home Declan Rice’s fierce cross.

The Reds dominated possession and territory after and an equaliser looked inevitable. It came midway through the second half with some fortune. Mohamed Salah had acres of space in the middle of the goal but scuffed his effort from 12 yards, seemingly straight at Lukasz Fabianski in the West Ham goal. However, the goalkeeper managed to spill the tame effort through his legs; 2-2.

Sadio Mane scored the winner 10 minutes from time with a tap in. Joe Gomez’s initial long range effort deflected into the path of Alexander-Arnold who simply looped the ball over the onrushing Fabianki to setup the winner.

Liverpool now have a staggering 22-point lead over Manchester City in second place, with 11 games to play.
