Highlights: Juventus 1-2 Ajax
Ajax pulled off an upset at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday night with a 2- 1 win against Juventus to progress to this season’s Champions League semi-finals.
It is the first time the Dutch giants have reached the final four in more than two decades.
The Italian runaway Serie A leaders actually took the lead on 28 minutes through Cristiano Ronaldo, who had also given Juventus the lead at the Amsterdam ArenA in last week’s 1-1 draw.
Ajax were back on level terms just six minutes later when a deflected shot kindly fell into the path of Donny van de Beek who coolly slotted the ball past Wojciech Szczesny when one-on-one.
The Eredivisie league leaders booked their place in the semi-finals midway through the second half when Matthijs de Ligt headed home a corner to give Ajax a 2-1 lead. Juventus had no response.
Erik ten Hag’s side will face either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City for a place in this season’s final in Madrid on 1 June.
