Highlights: Derby 0-1 Leeds

By on 11th May 2019

Leeds United recorded their third win over rivals Derby County this season to put them within touching distance of the 2019 EFL Championship play-off final with a 1-0 win at Pride Park on Saturday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side had already been emphatic 4-1 winners at this ground back in August before a comfortable 2-0 victory at home later in the season. They were deserved winners in the first leg of their play-off tie too.

Leeds had dominated the first half but somehow only went in at 0-0 before Kemar Roofe found space in the Derby defence to slide the ball home for a 1-0 lead, 10 minutes in the second half.

Bielsa’s side failed to add to their lead and sat back in the final 20 minutes, allowing the hosts to come onto them.

Derby were awarded a penalty in the final 15 minutes before referee Craig Pawson listened to one of his assistant’s and overturned the decision. Replays show that Jack Harrison clearly took out the leg of Jayden Bogle from under him.

The Rams had failed to produce a single shot on target in their last meeting between these two sides and at the end of the 90 minutes on Saturday they hadn’t tested Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla either.
