Highlights: Northampton 0-0 Derby

By on 25th January 2020

League Two side Northampton Town held Championship strugglers Derby County to a 0-0 draw in their FA Cup fourth round clash at Sixfields on Friday night.

It was the hosts who came closest to producing a winner as Phillip Cocu’s Rams didn’t produce a single shot on target during the 90 minutes.

The Dutch manager had made a number of changes to his starting lineup but did include regulars Wayne Rooney and Curtis Davies among three teenagers.

Northampton missed two excellent chances to take the lead in the opening eight minutes but were lucky not to be reduced to 10 men in the first half when captain Charlie Goode tugged down Jack Marriott when the Derby striker was going through one-on-one. The referee somehow managed to miss this incident.

The replay at Pride Park will take place midweek next month but a date has not yet been announced.
