By on 13th September 2020

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Everton on the opening day of the 2020-21 Premier League season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the game, 10 minutes into the second half whilst Harry Kane saw few opportunity at the other end.

Carlo Ancelotti handed debuts to James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan their debuts from the start. The Colombian star had a very productive first half, creating numerous chances, before fading away in the second half.

Allan was a strong contender for the man of the match at the New Tottenham Stadium on Sunday, protecting the back four by winning the ball back again and again, as well as starting attacks for the Toffees.

Richarlison had an early opportunity for the visitors, going round Hugo Lloris before skying his effort from a wide angle when Calvert-Lewin was open in the middle.

Dele Alli and Matt Doherty both forced good saves out of Jordan Pickford in the first half.

The game’s only goal came through a Lucas Digne free kick from deep picking out Dominic Calvert-Lewin who produced a great header into the top corner.
